Naughty Words

Like all young children Jillian has begun to pick up "not so nice words"!  Not only has she picked up on these "naughty" words, she can use them correctly when she feels necessary!  Well to stop these inappropriate words from coming out of the mouth of a precious two year old, Jerad and I have begun to threaten with the classic..."we are going to wash your mouth out with soap"!  Yesterday while we were in Houston, Grandma Saindon took it one step further and told Jillian that when she said a "dirty Word" it would make her little tongue dirty and therefore we would have to wash it with soap to get the "naughty, dirty, bad word" out of her mouth and off her tongue!  Okay so this evening Jillian comes up to me and just looks at me for a minute and then she said...

"mommy" (jilly)

"Yes, Jillian" (me)

"Is my tongue dirty?" (jilly)

I look at her tongue..."no baby, why" (me)

"because I told Isabelle (our dog) a naughty word" (jilly)

"What did you say to Isabelle?" (me)

"I told her Holy Shit, because stole my candy...so can I wash my tounge off now because it's dirty!" (jilly)

--Seriously it took everything I had to look at her without busting out laughing...but because I am a mother and I want to stand my ground I firmly told her that we do not say naughty words even if the dog steals our candy...and then I told her that this one time because she was so honest we wouldn't wash her mouth out but next time...well there better not be a next time!

--Oh the joys of motherhood!

The dreaded Flu!

Thursday afternoon Jillian had to miss her second ballet class because she was running a low grade fever.  So Friday afternoon Jerad took her to the doctor because she was not only running a very high fever--she had developed a horrific cough and a runny nose.  Well after a quick nasal swab--the results were in, she had the dreaded flu!  We spent the rest of the weekend trying to keep her comfortable and cloroxing and lysoling everything she came in contact with!  I'm a nurse and I don't think I have ever washed my hands so much in my entire life! Well maybe that's an exaggeration!  But seriously my hands are raw from all the washing and hand sanitizer's.  So anyhoo--she is feeling much better...looking at her today you would have never known that she had the flu this weekend!  Now Jerad and I are praying that we don't catch it!

LOL, I get this meanness from my mom--she would take pictures of us when we were sick kiddo's and now I'm the mean mommy taking pictures of my poor sick little baby!

Jillian gets earrings!

Well we were going to wait until Jillian was older to get her ears pierced--but she really, really wanted them!  Every morning she was putting her imaginary earrings on and every night she would take them off and lay them by the bed (and I'm serious she was doing this daily)!  It was really cute--but Jerad and I felt it was time to get her the real deal!  So after we went to lunch today we stopped by the mall and after a signed consent and a few tears later she is the proud owner of a brand new pair of "real" earrings!  I thought she would tug at them and try to pull them out--but so far she acts as though it's not big deal.  Maybe she is just use to them because she has been wearing the imaginary ones for so long now!  Anyhoo--here are some pictures of her newly pierced ears!

Signing the consent
Oh my--one ear down, one to go...
My poor baby...those darn imaginary earrings never made her cry!
Awww, I love her little earrings!
They gave her a sucker and she was all better!
Showing off her little ear lobes!
Too freakin' cute!

Tiny Ballerina

My little girl is growing up! Today was her very first day of ballet and she absolutely loved it! We were running a few minutes late and when we arrived her class had already started. I was a little nervous for her (and for me) I didn't know how she would act being around new people. I honestly don't know why I was so nervous because she is such a people person--just like her daddy! I think maybe my nerves had to do with the fact that I know she is growing up and I'm just not ready for that! Anyways--when we walked into her class she immediately sat down in the circle with the teacher and the other tiny tots. The teacher introduced Jillian to the other two children and then she asked her if she knew how to skip. Jillian sat there for a few seconds and I was waiting to hear how she would reply--in a sad little voice she said no I can't skip and she hung her little head, she then looked intensely at the teacher held up one little finger and said but I can twirl around like a ballerina! She then stood up and put her little hands above her head and spun around! It was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen--it actually brought tears to my eyes! Throughout the rest of the class I was beaming from ear to ear just watching my little girl have so much fun. At the end of class she began to cry because she was having so much fun she didn't want to leave. She actually had to go back inside the dance studio twice--once to show her teacher that she could do the bunny hop and second to give her a hug goodbye! I can't wait to see how she does next week! Here are a few photos from her very first ballet class...

I am so excited! I have thought about starting a blog for quite a while now and as of today I finally committed to it! I want to have a way to document the things that are going on with my family. When I first had Jillian I would jot down things in her baby book from time to time--as time has gone on, I am not keeping up with her little book like I had hoped. She is growing up to fast and there never seems to be enough time in a day--by blogging I hope to capture those memories that would have otherwise been lost forever.
